Amazon Direct Fulfillment EDI
Amazon Direct Fulfillment means Amazon places dropship orders on your system and you ship directly to the end customer rather than to an Amazon warehouse. It runs on the same Vendor Central account as Wholesale but with its own routing exchange, its own rules, and its own failure modes, which we build as a separate integration.
+ RULES
The scope, and what has to get right.
-
850Dropship purchase order. Amazon places an order on behalf of the end customer, which your ERP has to fulfil directly rather than from Amazon-held stock. -
753/754Routing request and instructions. Amazon's collect-shipment routing exchange happens before the ASN can go, specific to dropship orders and not part of Wholesale. -
856Advance ship notice, to the end customer. Carrier and delivery details have to match what was actually arranged for shipping to the customer, not an Amazon fulfillment center. -
810Invoice. Billed to Amazon for the dropshipped order, matched against the ASN as with any other invoice.
Inside the system, not bolted on.
Routing handled as its own step
The 753/754 exchange is mapped as a distinct stage before the ASN, since Direct Fulfillment routing rules do not apply to Wholesale orders.
Built separately from Wholesale
Even on the same Vendor Central account, Direct Fulfillment gets its own mapping, because a routing conflict or rule change in one program should never touch the other.
Direct connection, no middleware
The same direct AS2 or SFTP approach used across our EDI work, with no per-document layer sitting between you and Amazon.
Multi-marketplace ERP, EDI and logistics automation for a US consumer electronics brand
- Off Sage, with the operating history intact: Customers, vendors, items and transaction history were migrated from Sage into a browser-based ERP covering order-to-cash and procure-to-pay, with a full general ledger, receivables and payables, so the business changed systems without losing its records.
- Native EDI inside the ERP: Direct trading-partner connections for Amazon Vendor Central, Walmart, HSN, QVC and Costco with 850, 855, 856, 810, 846 and 997 documents, polled on schedules as short as ten minutes. Every job is tracked on a monitoring dashboard, and there is no third-party EDI middleware in the chain.
- Every channel in one order queue: Amazon Vendor Central and Seller Central (SP-API), Walmart, HSN, QVC, Costco, several Shopify storefronts, eBay and direct wholesale accounts land in one system. Vendor Central purchase orders are accepted or rejected back to Amazon from the same screen that shows system, 3PL and allocated stock.
- Multi-warehouse and multi-3PL stock: Real-time inventory across an owned warehouse operated with a logistics partner, a second third-party warehouse and Amazon fulfillment locations, with warehouse transfer orders and an Amazon inbound shipment request action for FBA.
- International purchasing and landed cost: Ocean and air freight purchase orders carry ETD, bill of lading, ETA and vessel details, and the ERP calculates landed cost at receiving from tariff classification, duty, tariff, harbor surcharge and freight per item.
Common questions.
Do we need a separate Amazon account for Direct Fulfillment?
No. Direct Fulfillment runs on the same Vendor Central account as Wholesale, but Amazon treats the two as separate programs with different rules.
What is the 753/754 exchange for?
It is Amazon's routing request and routing instructions step, specific to dropship orders, that has to complete before the ASN can be sent for a Direct Fulfillment shipment.
Our routing requests keep getting rejected. Why?
Almost always because the delivery appointment or carrier detail on the routing request does not match what was actually scheduled. We trace it to the specific mismatch rather than resending blind.
Can this integrate with our own carrier rate-shopping?
Yes. Since you are shipping directly to the end customer rather than an Amazon fulfillment center, live carrier rate-shopping across FedEx, UPS and USPS fits naturally into the same order flow.
Where this connects.
Are your routing requests getting rejected?
Tell us what the rejection message says and we will tell you whether it is an appointment, carrier or address mismatch.
