Cloud Application Development

A cloud application runs on infrastructure you don't manage yourself, scaling to real-time workloads like continuous safety monitoring or multi-company platforms. We build and maintain cloud applications on .NET and PostgreSQL or SQL Server, including inheriting and extending systems already running in production.

WHAT THIS INVOLVES

The scope, and what has to get right.

  • Cloud-hosted architecture. Applications designed to run on cloud infrastructure from the start, not a desktop application moved online after the fact.
  • Real-time and background processing. Scheduled jobs and continuous monitoring, for cases where the system has to detect and react without a person watching a screen.
  • Third-party service integration. Billing, messaging, maps and other cloud services connected as part of the application rather than left as separate manual steps.
  • Inheriting and extending live systems. Not every cloud application starts from a blank slate. We take on systems already running in production and extend them safely.

  • Found and fixed a structural multi-tenant flaw: Identified a structural issue in how the inherited codebase isolated data between tenant companies, and corrected the isolation model so each company's safety and account data stays properly separated on shared infrastructure.
  • Automated missed-checkout detection: A background process continuously watches for missed checkouts with no manual oversight, triggering escalation in near real time rather than waiting for someone to notice.
  • Added an automated phone check-out flow: Built a phone-based IVR flow through SignalWire: the system calls the worker, plays safety prompts, and confirms safety through a keypress, alongside the existing push and SMS channels.
  • Subscription billing kept self-correcting: Chargify handles recurring billing with card capture fully delegated to its hosted pages, and a scheduled job syncs subscription state daily, deactivating employees at expired companies automatically.
  • Added a background-check integration: Layered in PeopleConnect background-check lookups with per-user monthly usage caps, extending the platform's screening capability without disrupting the core monitoring engine.

Can you take over a cloud application someone else built?

Yes. One of our longest-running engagements is exactly that: an inherited cloud SaaS platform we have maintained and extended, including finding and fixing a structural issue in its original design.

What is the difference between a cloud application and a SaaS product?

A cloud application is any system hosted on cloud infrastructure. SaaS product development specifically means building a subscription platform serving multiple customer organizations from shared infrastructure.

Do you work with PostgreSQL, or only SQL Server?

Both. PostgreSQL is our documented choice for at least one production multi-tenant platform, alongside SQL Server work elsewhere.

Can a cloud application include real-time monitoring or alerts?

Yes. Continuous background monitoring, automated detection and multi-channel alerting are things we have built and currently maintain in production.
