CASE STUDY

QR-based ordering and kitchen automation for a restaurant

A restaurant handled dine-in orders by hand, causing delays and orders delivered to the wrong table as volume grew. We built a QR-based ordering system where customers order from a table QR code, the kitchen receives it in real time, and billing generates automatically once the order is complete.

CLIENT
A restaurant operator
INDUSTRY
Restaurant, food service
ENGAGEMENT
ERP architecture and development, with long-term support and enhancements
STACK
.NET / ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, jQuery
THE PROBLEM

Manual order-taking meant delays, mistaken tables, and slow, manual billing.

  • Manual order entry caused delays during busy periods
  • Orders were sometimes delivered to the wrong table
  • Real-time order tracking was difficult with a paper-based process
  • Billing and invoice generation were manual and time-consuming
WHAT WE BUILT

One system, built around how the work actually happens.

01QR-code ordering per table
02Real-time kitchen coordination
03Automated invoicing on completion
04Live status for customers and staff
ORDERING

QR-code ordering per table

Each table gets its own QR code; customers order directly from their phone, with menu items and deals managed dynamically from the back end.

KITCHEN

Real-time kitchen coordination

Orders reach the kitchen directly from the system with live preparation status, cutting the errors that came from relayed paper tickets.

BILLING

Automated invoicing on completion

An invoice generates automatically once an order is marked complete, replacing manual bill preparation at the table.

TRACKING

Live status for customers and staff

Both the kitchen and the customer can see order status update in real time from placement through delivery.

TECHNOLOGIES

What it runs on.

.NET / ASP.NET MVCSQL ServerjQuery
OUTCOME

What changed.

  • Orders generated digitally via QR code instead of manual entry
  • Correct, timely order delivery to the right table
  • Reduced staff dependency for order-taking during peak periods
  • Faster service and accurate, automated billing

ONGOING VALUE

After go-live.

With continuous improvements after launch, the QR ordering platform became a reliable backbone for the restaurant's day-to-day ordering.
